Economics of SaaS BI has Lured Some Organizations into Enterprise-Class SaaS BI Solutions for the First Time, Study Says

Aberdeen’s report found adoption of SaaS BI has doubled since the last survey a year ago, with 15% of the 400 organizations polled now using Software-as-a-Service business intelligence. The research also showed that the largest enterprises (over $5 billion in annual revenue) are the #2 consumers of SaaS BI behind very small businesses (under $50 million in annual revenue), and together they represent 66% of the SaaS BI market.
In the report, David White, senior research analyst, Aberdeen Group, explains that SaaS BI allows companies to deploy BI to new audiences—especially to smaller departments with fewer BI resources on staff. According to the survey, this is because respondents perceive SaaS BI applications as being easier to use, less expensive and faster to implement.
